Garibaldi Marina Crabbing in Tillimook Bay, Oregon
Garibaldi Marina

Tillamook Bay

is also well know for crabbing and you can find boat rentals in Garibaldi. You can also crab from the dock, they’re happy to set you up with everything you need. There are seven areas for clammers to choose from in the Tillamook Bay; with Garibaldi and The Point at the Miami River entrance offering easy access. I recommend for first time clammers to try the Garibaldi tidal flats at the end of 12th street.

Take both a shovel of some type and a rake for digging, as the closer to the shore you are the more rocky the ground will be. Tides are very important to get out to where the larger clams are in abundance. Although you can see people clamming in almost any minus tide, a tide over -1.0 to -2.0+ will be a good bet as to limiting out in short time, with minimal effort.

Throughout the site items highlighted in green indicate a preferred spot. Once you identity which beach you want to try, go back to the menu to get a more specific map of that location.

Information provided is a result of personal experience clamming at each bay location over a period of fifty-years, and local residences providing input and advice; as well as ongoing information from past Oregon Department Fish and Wildlife surveys. Information will change as incoming seas have a tendency to shift, weather changes, and sand bars move.
